How Soviet Spies Stole The Atomic Bomb
In 1949, the Soviet Union shocked the world by testing their first atomic bomb, four years earlier than expected. Despite being wartime allies, Soviet spies had infiltrated the U.S. and Britain, stealing critical nuclear research. At the center of this espionage was Ursula Kuczynski, also known as "Sonya," a skilled wireless operator. Newly declassified files reveal how Sonya evaded capture while transmitting atomic secrets, changing the course of the Cold War. Her actions, along with others in her network, played a pivotal role in the USSR’s rapid nuclear advancements.
