Grid-Down Emergency Shelter

I am in the thicket of a very urban area. Let’s say I am in a hurry and have been walking all day long while trying to get home. I am exhausted and need to stop for the night. It’s grid down and I want to stay under the radar. I don’t want to start a fire because I need to stay concealed. I need to create a bugout emergency shelter. I scan the area and select natural bedding that will supply warmth to my body. I choose pine needles. When you’re raking the pine straw to make a survival bed then you need to make sure you’re only scooping up the top layer because the lower layers are wet. This bed will certainly provide some coziness. I am on the move and have to get from point A to Point B because there was an explosion, someone stole all my gear and now I am in a big rush to get home. It’s vital! You need to be careful when traveling at night during a SHTF situation. There are stomps and other dangers that aren’t as visible in the dark. Avoid buildings during the post apocalyptic scene.

Say you’re in a hurry and don’t have time for a bushcraft elevated bed then the pine straw bed is the way to go. Especially, if you’re in a non permissive environment during the apocalypse. I always carry the wazoo foraging bandana for many reasons. A couple reasons is because it provides warmth during the winter and keeps the bugs off your face during the summer.
