Horrors Of The Einsatzgruppen: Who Were The Nazi Death Squads? | Einsatzgruppen | War Stories

On June 22nd 1941, Hitler launched Operation Barbarossa, with the aim to empty eastern Europe of Jews and Communists and create a Lebensraum for his 1000 year Reich. As part of this operation, a group of soldiers known as the Einsatzgruppen followed in the wake of the Wehrmacht, executing men, women and children that they deemed foes of Nazism. In this episode we look back on these horrific years early in WWII, and understand who the Einsatzgruppen were, and their widespread and shocking crimes of the Holocaust.
