UNPOPULAR OPINION: Sutures have no business being in a wilderness first aid kit.
Unless you are a surgeon that is using sutures to repair blood vessels, they are NOT a method of controlling a bleed; pressure dressings, wound packing, and tourniquets are.
Most superficial sutures are meant for closing a wound to promote healing and lessen scarring, neither of which is critical enough to risk suturing in the field (which is why nobody in the medical profession does it or carries them).
The exception to this is if you plan to use them for clothing and gear repair instead of a needle and thread.
