I’ve often heard about the significant increase in minorities and women owning and carrying guns in the past ~20 years.
What hurdles did you encounter when making the decision to become a gun owner, from purchasing your first gun to obtaining training to deciding how to broach the topic with family and friends?

How much time should a person who wants to be secure but has no specific threat spend on self defense preparedness, assuming they do not wish to engage in martial arts, shooting etc as a hobby?

What is the best martial art for general self defense? This is assuming your hands and body are your only weapons.

As a smaller man, what are the best non-firearm self defense options I have at my disposal? Carrying a firearm isn’t always an option for me and, while I wouldn’t say I’m out of shape, I simply don’t have the mass to comfortably go toe to toe with someone much larger than me.
Obviously de-escalation and leaving the situation will always be my first choices but as a member of a targeted group that won’t always be an option.

Self Defense: What is your favorite pepper spray? Do you have a better non-lethal recommendation for a young woman who frequently closes up a shop by herself, and has basically no upper body strength?

Self-defense: what viable strategies are there for women who live in jurisdictions that don’t allow any kind of weapons?

General, for both: What are some skills you’re very developed in now, that you didn’t expect to be so fundamental/useful when you started working in your current spheres?

What are you seeing/hearing about the impact of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen which changed the way many local jurisdictions evaluate issuing concealed carry permits (they can no longer require proof of "good cause")?

Self Defense: How do you start conversations with friends or family who are making risky self-defense choices? E.g. carrying a knife or one of those cat punchy things.
Part II self defense if permitted: what are some good ways to practice awareness out in public or in more marginal situations?

is it worth it to have young kids (6 and 4 in my case) learn martial arts? If not what good foundation should I start them on

Any practices or behaviors you like to see people in self defense classes & communities do more or less of? Especially things that we can change ourselves on an individual level.

Any recommendations for fidget toys, or other things that aren’t guns or defensive gear, but you think folks might enjoy or benefit from if they’re into that kind of gear?

My wife and I need to get another cat for home defense, since the loss of one has left a hole in our defensive capabilities and strategy. My wife favors a ultra-compact model, like Cornish Rex, Singapura, or even skipping a cat entirely and getting a business of ferrets. I favor a mid-sized model, like a serval or a bobcat. I think that a mid-sized model will be better for patrol and perimeter defense at the cost of concealability and portability, but my wife insists that we need a cat that’s easily portable so we can keep it close all the time.
We live in a pretty rural area, so we can’t depend on the police to arrive in a timely fashion to defend us from moths/crickets, empty boxes, lasers, or balls of paper.
Should we compromise on a compact model, like a Main Coon or Savannah? We both agree that a full-size cat is too much cat for our needs.
