Is the POWER CINCH better than the TRUCKER’S HITCH?

The Trucker’s Hitch is a compound knot commonly used for securing loads on trucks or trailers. A compound knot is a knot which combines two or more primary or common knots to effect a purpose. Although the Trucker’s Hitch has the term "Hitch" in it’s name, it could also be argued that the Trucker’s Hitch is a Binding knot.

The Trucker’s Hitch is known by several different names, such as the Trucker’s Hitch, the Wagoner’s Hitch, The Lorry Knot, The Haymaker’s Hitch, The Harvester’s Hitch, and The Power Cinch.

This video is meant to introduce the idea (the knowledge) that many knots are known by different names and knowing the names is part of having a deeper understanding of the knots themselves.

I remember years ago, a man from the United Kingdom asked me if I knew the Lorry Knot. He told me it was one that he always had trouble with. I didn’t recognize the name and said "no, I don’t know it." A few days later I discovered that the Lorry knot was the Trucker’s Hitch and a knot that I’ve known for years. Had I realized that I did in fact know the "Lorry" then I could have easily shown him how to tie it.

These are all popular knots and can be found in Ashley’s book of knots and other knotting books.
