Yule Log – Relaxing Outdoors ASMR

Some people think that meditation means the active pondering of things, and this is partly correct. It can be that. But there are many different ways to meditate. For example, in seated meditation, zazen – often practised by Zen Buddhists – the goal is typically to clear your mind of all noise and earthly stimuli. However, to think about nothing is quite impossible, so the next best thing is to focus on just one thing. This is quite commonly the counting of one’s breathing. Inhale, one. Exhale. Inhale, two. Exhale, and so on. Once you reach ten, you start over. If you break your concentration and accidentally think about something else, it doesn’t matter. Just start over again. Inhale, one. If you lose your count, it doesn’t matter, just start over again. Inhale, one.

This type of meditation is an exercise in concentration, not some creative sort of pondering. If this is your first rodeo, put on a timer for ten minutes. Once you get better at this – this is not easy – you can do it for longer times. If counting your breath seems weird, you may begin your meditation journey by watching our video, and put all your effort in concentrating on the details and events during the whole thing. It is extremely important to watch the whole thing. So, use the toilet, get a drink of water, sit down comfortably, and press play!
