Sweden’s standard issue rifle, the AK designation has nothing to do with the Russian family of rifles instead, it stands for AutomatKarbin. Chambered in 5.56x45mm, it is basically a copy of the FN FNC with modifications to meet Sweden’s military needs. This rifle replaced the Ak 4, which itself was a copy of the German G3. (GRH)
